The NOGO Bin - Look how far we've come in 2022!

In just one year we have achieved so much! The Tackle Lab team started out with one single purpose: to help eliminate problematic waste from Aussie bins by starting with disposable nappies in childcare centres.

It has been an interesting journey these past 12 months. We have spent hours upon hours researching and hosting countless meetings. From the NSW EPA, local councils to some of the biggest leaders in the waste industry. In 2022 we have left no stone unturned.

One thing that has blown us away this year is the positive support we have received from everyone in the community. We wanted to thank each and everyone of you for cheering us on. We look forward to openly sharing the next steps of our journey in 2023.

We are currently conducting our compostable nappy and wipe collection trial in a childcare facility located within the City of Sydney. Stay tuned for in 2023 we will have the final details and results of our trial.

The ECA Convention in Canberra

In October you may have had the opportunity to meet us in person at the ECA convention in Canberra. Many of you reached out to us immediately afterwards and were keen to get involved. Off the back of conversations at the convention with like-minded Educators we decided to start a community group. This is a collaborative purpose driven community for childcare educators who have the same sustainability goals. This community group will give educators the chance to provide feedback and advice on how we can improve the nappy waste problem. If you haven’t already we would like to invite you to join this private Facebook group. It is newly formed and has only a small number of people right now. You can join the group here.

Finalist in the Circle Awards 'One to Watch' category

A panel of leading experts recognised our NOGO Bin entry in the Circle Awards AUS & NZ 2022 as having a positive impact. We were named as finalists in the 'One to Watch' category. Given the high-calibre of entrants participating in the Circle Awards, this was a huge accomplishment and we were extremely proud of this achievement and making it this far.

Witness at the ACT Inquiry into the Waste Management of Absorbent Hygiene Products

We were officially invited as witnesses for our submission to the Standing Committee on Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity as part of its Inquiry into the Waste Management of Absorbent Hygiene Products. This was a great opportunity for us to share our knowledge, you can view our submission here.

The NOGO Bin

Our biggest achievement in 2022 was the development of our NOGO Bin system - Nappy Organics Good Organics. Our system is a direct result of identifying the gaps and needs in the childcare industry, designed to help them eliminate problematic waste from bins. Watch our NOGO Bin video above.
